We are excited to share the success of the recently conducted Capacity Building Workshops on the Indian Carbon Market, also known as the Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS) of India by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency. Hosted at Hyderabad, Bhubaneshwar, Mumbai and Chandigarh, these workshops witnessed huge participation from Obligated Entities, Accredited Verifiers, and key stakeholders. The deliberations include Compliance Mechanism under the CCTS framework, ensuring clarity on rules and obligations. Detailed walkthroughs of Data Entry Proformas for seamless reporting and monitoring followed by Discussions on the Accreditation Process for Accredited Carbon Verifiers (ACVs), pivotal for ensuring the integrity of carbon credit assessments.
Simultaneously, the baseline audits for carbon assessments in nine critical sectors are progressing smoothly. These audits address technical complexities while setting benchmarks for emission reductions, which will form the foundation for a robust carbon market in India.
With the Indian Carbon Market gaining momentum, these workshops are essential for equipping stakeholders with the knowledge and tools to contribute effectively. By fostering collaboration and building capacity, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency is paving the way for a transparent, efficient, and impactful carbon trading system.
